Narrative Hub

GRO’s Narrative Change and Cultural Work

The Georgia Resilience and Opportunity (GRO) Fund believes the future is a blueprint we design together. We are actively  working to narrow the racial wealth divide and advance economic justice by delivering direct cash transfers that place power back into the hands of those most impacted, and build momentum toward policies that embed economic justice in law. This Hub is the intersection where our collective movement comes to life, sharing participant stories and evidence that proves a more just and equitable future is within reach.

GRO’s Statewide Impact

In Her Hands: A Guaranteed Income Initiative

In Her Hands is a guaranteed income initiative serving nearly 1,000 women across Georgia, providing no-strings-attached cash for 2–3 years. Participants report increased financial stability, greater goal attainment, improved health, stronger community ties, and greater hope for the future.

  • Urban: Atlanta's historic Old Fourth Ward and Westside communities.

  • Suburban: College Park.

  • Rural: The tri-county cluster of Clay, Randolph, and Terrell in Southwest Georgia.

Freedom Futures: Cash for Today, Capital for Tomorrow

Freedom Futures is a first-of-its-kind pilot combining guaranteed income, a large lump sum, and financial coaching for 50 young adults. The program helps young adults meet their needs today (guaranteed income) while helping them build wealth for the future (baby bonds).

  • Partner Schools: Benjamin E. Mays High School, Clark Atlanta University, and Atlanta Metropolitan College.

The GRO Fund is committed to tackling the harmful public narratives about poverty. We believe evidence, dignity, agency, and expertise belong at the center of the narrative. By collaborating with partners like ideas42, we rigorously research and co-design powerful interventions, proving that the stories we choose to tell are the key that unlocks policy support and drives the creation of a new, equitable economy for all.
